What do you do at Guardian Pharmacy of Wisconsin?

At Guardian Pharmacy of Wisconsin, I am the Director of Clinical Services for all three of our pharmacies. This includes overseeing our consulting and flu vaccine clinics. As the Director of Clinical Services, I strive to make sure all the facilities we service and consult with feel confident in our ability to take care of them and their residents. I believe as a pharmacy, we are the lifeline and communication between facilities/residents and providers, and this is a responsibility I do not take lightly. Long-term care pharmacy is my passion and I intend to work in this environment for the remainder of my pharmacist career.

What is your background?

I grew up in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, and completed an undergraduate degree from UW-Eau Claire in Healthcare Administration, focused on long-term care. After graduation, I worked as a pharmacy technician for a long-term care pharmacy in Milwaukee which inspired me to go back to school to be a pharmacist. I graduated with my Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Concordia University and have worked at the former Prescriptions Plus Pharmacy, now Guardian Pharmacy of Wisconsin ever since.

What are the values that drive you?

I believe as pharmacists and especially as consultant pharmacists, we can meaningfully impact the lives of our residents. I treat each resident with respect and look at each one individually to make recommendations based on their unique circumstances. Working closely with facility staff and providers offers me the opportunity to ensure that I, and the whole pharmacy team, are providing the best possible, patient-centered care to our residents. Communication is a key focus of mine and we succeed when we all work as a team. I make every effort to be organized and efficient in my responsibilities to the facilities and residents we serve.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two very active sons. I am also an avid reader and feel that any time is a good time for a great book!
